The Chainlink Network is a community-driven ecosystem that provides smart contract developers seamless access to external data resources, supporting the creation of advanced hybrid smart contracts that combine on-chain and off-chain infrastructure. To further this goal, we are proud to announce that we’ve updated the Chainlink Market to provide a superior user experience and greater transparency into the Chainlink Network, allowing users to discover, and consume services from leading data provider operated Chainlink nodes in the Chainlink ecosystem.

With this update, both smart contract developers and data providers are provided access to a larger array of tooling that can be used to leverage the Chainlink Network in the most efficient and seamless manner possible. By supporting the growth of the blockchain ecosystem at large, new decentralized applications can be created that will entirely redefine the way society exchanges value and allow data providers to further monetize the growth of this parallel financial ecosystem.

What is the Chainlink Market?

Market.link is a community-driven two-sided marketplace that connects developers looking to power their smart contracts with external data together with data providers who are looking to enable expanded access to their data products. By providing a significant degree of transparency into the performance of individual Chainlink nodes including average response latency, response deviation, revenue, gas expenses, and more, developers can select oracle nodes for their smart contract applications using redefined statics derived from on-chain performance data.

The Chainlink Market already features listings for hundreds of data feeds, Chainlink nodes, external adapters, and data sources across the Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, xDai, and Polygon blockchains, including both testnets and mainnet networks. With the expansion of the Chainlink Market, the platform will now incorporate additional blockchain networks, analytic tools, and an improved user interface that helps developers and data providers efficiently and seamlessly match.

The Chainlink Market features numerous Chainlink nodes operated by leading premium data providers such as SportMonks and TheRundown, who process and supply their sports and odds data covering more than 20 leagues globally; GeoDB, whose location data is derived from thousands of unique contributors and has more than 250k users; Finage, dxFeed, and Tiingo, who provide premium financial market data on a wide range of traditional and crypto assets; and many more who provide access to a wide range of real-world datasets. These data providers leverage Chainlink to provide on-chain smart contracts access to cryptographically signed datasets, providing strong assurance that the data came straight from the source.

With the introduction of Chainlink 2.0, an evolution in the design and role of Decentralized Oracle Networks (DONs) in the smart contract ecosystem, the Chainlink Market will continue to play a significant role as the permissionless catalogue that allows users to choose and filter the network services they want to use in their DON. As the Chainlink Market expands, additional data provider-run Chainlink nodes will continue to be listed, providing developers a greater diversity of choices when creating a Chainlink-powered smart contract application. As an open marketplace, market.link provides numerous key benefits for all ecosystem participants.

Benefits For Smart Contract Developers

The Chainlink Market allows smart contract developers to gain deep insight into the operation of the Chainlink Network and select nodes they want to provide their application with external data based on historical on-chain performance data. The benefits of the Chainlink Market for developers include:

  • Rapid discoverability: Developers can use the Chainlink Market to discover, compare, and contrast data from a qualified list of data feeds and category-leading data providers to secure the execution of hybrid smart contracts.
  • Efficient Integration: Developers can learn how to most efficiently integrate external data into their decentralized applications across the various blockchain networks supported by data provider-operated Chainlink nodes.
  • Request New Data: Developers can leverage the Chainlink Market to contact Chainlink node operators to launch support for additional datasets that cannot be found from the existing community of data providers.

Benefits For Premium Data Providers

The Chainlink Market provides existing data providers an end-to-end platform to expand their total addressable market by becoming blockchain-enabled and delivering their datasets on-chain to the growing smart contract economy. The benefits of the Chainlink Market for data providers include:

  • Unparalleled Distribution Channel: The Chainlink Market makes it seamless for data providers to reach the thousands of developers in the Chainlink community who leverage Chainlink oracles to build hybrid smart contracts such as those seen in DeFi.
  • Data Monetization: Data providers can monetize the growth of the smart contract economy and interact with a vibrant community that can help in the process of expanding and improvising their data offerings for the blockchain ecosystem.
  • Education and Outreach: Data providers gain access to material on how to become a data provider in the Chainlink ecosystem including the creation of external adapters, launching a Chainlink node, and the process of delivering data on-chain.

New Features and Functionalities of the Chainlink Market

To highlight the Chainlink nodes operated by leading premium data providers, the Chainlink Market now prominently displays a collection of the three most recently launched data provider nodes on the main landing page, simplifying discoverability and accessibility for smart contract developers. Additionally, the market’s search function has been improved to better display data providers and their branding, providing seamless access to their unique node pages. Each data provider’s node page also displays a dedicated badge, signifying their datasets are being delivered straight from the source.

To further improve discoverability, a dedicated listing page has also been created for data provider run Chainlink nodes, including detailed information regarding node addresses and job IDs enabling rapid integration. Data providers can be filtered by category, allowing for developers to quickly find the data they require to build their hybrid smart contracts. With all of these improvements in aggregate, smart contract developers and data providers can be connected in a highly seamless manner, allowing for the creation of even more advanced applications.

As a Chainlink ecosystem project, we are excited to see what advanced use cases are built by smart contract developers as a result of Market.link’s improved access and transparency on high-quality data provider operated Chainlink nodes.
